Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager will lead the execution of all utility scale solar development projects from Greenfield to NTP. The Senior Project Manager will manage the various aspects and phases of a renewable power project life cycle, ensuring adherence to enterprise and local project and program management standards, frameworks, and processes. This position reports to senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate.
This position is located in Irvine, California. This position may be expected to travel up to 50%.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead a growing pipeline of Greenfield development projects throughout North America
  • Manage feasibility analysis of new potential projects including preliminary transmission studies and permitting
  • Project reporting and forecast of cash flow and revenue recognition
  • Execution in accordance with Vasari Energy project management process and procedures; where necessary, adapting and improving same
  • Work scope development, contractor bid evaluation and selection, final price negotiation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business opportunities and problems, and develop project proposal justifications which include proposed solutions, strategic rationale and cost/benefit analyses, success measures, broad implications, milestones, critical success factors, initial risk assessments, and alternatives considered
  • Build consensus on vendor requirements and collaborate to recommend and set a negotiation strategy, and facilitate selection process
  • Monitor and assess project performance by applying quantitative, as well as qualitative best practices techniques (e.g. Red/Yellow/Green, burn rates, and earned value)
  • Communicate regularly stakeholders on project milestones, plans, status, and progress. Adjust project plans and resources per discussions with key stakeholders and resource managers. Track various items through course of project via decision logs, risk registers and assessments
  • Develop predictive cost modeling and work scopes for new projects and opportunities
  • Develop and implement systematic improvements that enable 10x growth over a 3-year period
  • Support the development of project financial performance projections during the development cycle
  • Support the development of high level and detailed project schedules (as needed) to support on time and under budget project execution
  • Engage cross-functional teams (e.g., field operations, sourcing, logistics, project finance, requisition engineering, manufacturing, project controls, contract management) to ensure successful project execution


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience managing the performance of major projects, preferably in the development and building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale development projects
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing utility scale Solar development projects.
  • Deep experience and industry relationships with regional and national solar EPC firms
  • Experience dealing with federal, state and local agencies for various permits
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Primavera
  • Ability and willingness to work in range of environments including solar sites across North America and possibly other countries
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
